Take a Look At Our Treatment In Action
Unlike traditional neurology, which tends to see things in strict categories, functional neurology takes a more flexible approach. Instead of labeling people in rigid boxes, it understands that human health is more complex. It acknowledges that many individuals don't neatly fit into predefined categories, and it's okay to be in the "grey area." It means we can create treatment plans that are tailored to each person's unique needs, ensuring that nobody gets left behind.
Emerging Technologies
The practice of functional neurology has grown exponentially in the 21st century and thus the development of leading-edge medical equipment has followed suit. This technology combined with world class expertise allows for revolutionary treatment application. The following are a list of some of these technologies:
DYNAVISION D2™
The DYNAVISION D2™ is the premier training and evaluation tool that records the user's reaction to light to train peripheral awareness, hand-eye coordination, and visual reaction time. This innovative device also helps to enhance cognitive processing speed by challenging the brain's ability to respond quickly to visual stimuli.
MEDICAL VIRTUAL REALITY
VR allows for the creation and control of dynamic 3D environments which provides visual, auditory, and somatosensory stimuli to assist in the treatment of a multitude of neurological deficiencies.
VIDEO NYSTAGOMOGRAPHY (VNG)
Video-oculography (VOG) is the gold standard in the assessment of physiological lesions of central nervous system and the vestibular system. The examination protocol itself involves a series of tests designed to ascertain the ability of a person to follow visual objects with the eyes. Each test incorporates a different type of eye movement that is known to be a direct indicator of a specific region within the brain. Laser sharp diagnostics are what make the difference the recovery from neurological dysfunction
FITLIGHT TRAINER NEURO-COGNITIVE TRAINING PROGRAM
FITLIGHT Trainer is a speed and neuro-cognitive training system that helps the user strengthen the bond between mind and body and enhances reaction and response time. By incorporating dynamic exercises, it challenges both physical and mental agility, leading to improved overall performance.
TRANS-CRANIAL LOW LEVEL LASER
Photobiomodulation therapy is defined as the utilization of non-ionizing electromagnetic energy to trigger photochemical changes within cellular structures that are receptive to photons. Mitochondria is particularly receptive to this process. When this light is absorbed, there is an increased production of ATP: leading to benefits such as wound healing, physical therapy, nerve regeneration, and pain management
GYRO-STIM
GyroStim is a highly specialized, computer-controlled, electromechanical, multi-axis rotational chair uniquely capable of administering highly therapeutic doses of motion-induced vestibular stimulation. It works by moving the entire body through space generating controlled doses of powerful motion-induced therapeutic stimulation through the sensorimotor system. This stimulation only can be achieved with the technological advantages of a GyroStim and gets right to the source of the problem. Highly effective for TBI, concussion, dizziness, and post-stroke rehabilitation just to name a few conditions.
COMPUTERIZED DYNAMIC POSTUROGRAPHY (CAPS)
Dynamic posturography assesses the individual’s postural control in the presence of experimentally induced external perturbations. It is the gold standard for assessing balance and fall risk. The perturbation utilized is as simple as a foam cushion. During an actual test protocol, as the individual makes small movements the sensitive detectors in the force platform underneath the subject detect them and transmit this subtle information to a computer. This information is then utilized to determine alterations in what is called the center of pressure (CoP) or sway and aides in the calculation of the direction and amount of sway. This in turn helps formulate a precise diagnosis and laser accurate treatment plan
INTERACTIVE METRONOME
The Interactive Metronome is a therapeutic assessment and training program that improves attention, concentration, motor planning, and sequencing. Improvements in those areas result in stronger motor control and coordination, enhanced balance and gait, and improved language and cognition. This technology also aids in refining timing skills, which are crucial for efficient neural processing and overall brain function.
TRANS-CRANIAL VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION (TCVNS)
Trans-cutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tcVNS) activates the vagus nerve (longest cranial nerve in the body) with gentle electrical stimulation through the skin via the neck. It is a type of neuro-modulation and directly activates the brain stimulating neuroplasticity. It's used for many neurological conditions including migraines, traumatic brain injury, and post-stroke rehabilitation.
In essence, the clinical findings and symptoms are reviewed with an intimate understanding of the neurology and physiology involved. The functional neurologist then formulates a plan targeting the dysfunctional areas within the body and the nervous system. This means that through the utilization of a functional neurological approach, functional neurology offers an exceptionally valuable option for certain patients that have been unable to obtain a named diagnosis or solution for their problem, especially in the case when a dysfunction, rather than a named process of pathology, exists.
