  • What is the onboarding process like?
The on-boarding process at the Functional Neurology Brain Center of Florida begins with speaking to one of our courteous care coordinators and scheduling an appointment for a comprehensive examination. You will then be sent a link for a digital new patient form to be completed prior to your arrival. This information is vital for your diagnosis. We pride ourselves on an in-depth assessment process and strongly believe that accurately identifying the neurological deficiency will vastly increase the probability of a positive outcome to therapy.
  • What to expect on my first visit and beyond?
Upon arriving at the Functional Neurology Brain Center of Florida you will undergo several pre-determined tests prescribed by your doctor after a review of your phone consultation and case history. Subsequently, your doctor will review this data and will use it strategically to help guide the examination. The entire assessment process can take anywhere between 1-2 hours. Within this time the doctor will reveal your diagnosis, prognosis, and recommended treatment plan. If your condition requires continued care, you may be scheduled for another more targeted testing appointment. Subsequently all other visits will be treatment centered.
  • How many visits will I need?
After completing the data collection, your doctor will prepare your individualized treatment plan. It is at this juncture that the total number and frequency of visits will be determined. On average most treatment plans range from 10-20 visits at a frequency of 2-5 times per week. There are certain circumstances where the condition may only require one visit as in the treatment of some types of dizziness. In some cases where patients come in from out of town, the patient will undergo an “Intensive Rehabilitation” program with 2-3 visits per day for 5 days. Each visit lasts between 30-90 minutes.
  • What therapies will I encounter?
At a Functional Neurology Brain Center of Florida, you may encounter a range of innovative, revolutionary, and non-invasive therapies designed to enhance neurological function and promote overall brain health. These therapies often include neuro-modulating therapies such as trans-cranial vagus and trigeminal nerve stimulation as well as medical virtual reality therapy; cognitive exercises that aim to improve memory, attention, and critical thinking skills; and vestibular rehabilitation to address balance and coordination issues just to name a few. Additionally, sensory integration therapy may be utilized to enhance the brain's ability to process and respond to sensory information, while nutritional and lifestyle counseling focuses on optimizing brain health through diet and lifestyle modifications. These therapies are typically personalized to address individual needs and are integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan aimed at improving neurological function and quality of life.
  • What is your success rate?
Success rates can vary depending on the condition treated, the individual’s unique circumstances, and their adherence to the recommended treatment plan. At our practice, we focus on personalized care tailored to each patient's specific needs and goals. While it is challenging to provide a one-size-fits-all success rate, we are committed to being data driven, tracking progress and outcomes to ensure that we provide the best possible care. We encourage potential patients to discuss their specific concerns with us so we can provide a clearer picture based on similar cases and individual treatment plans. Our goal is to collaborate with each patient to achieve the best possible results and improve their quality of life.

  • At what point during my treatment should I expect to see positive changes happen?
This question reflects a common concern about the timeline and effectiveness of therapy. The answer can vary widely depending on individual factors, including the nature and severity of the condition, the patient's overall health, and their adherence to the prescribed treatment plan. Generally, some patients might notice initial improvements within a few treatments, while others may take several weeks to experience significant changes. Functional neurology focuses on personalized care and gradual, cumulative progress, emphasizing that even small gains can be crucial markers of overall improvement. It is important for patients to maintain open communication with their practitioners to set realistic expectations and adjust the treatment approach as needed.
